Webfleet launches electric vehicle charger monitoring system to improve fleet readiness and reliability

On October 22nd, Bridgestone’s globally trusted fleet management solution Webfleet launched a new EV Charger Monitoring solution, allowing fleet managers to monitor electric vehicles and private chargers on a single platform. This unique solution is directly derived from the recently launched EV Services Platform, which integrates charger data directly into the Webfleet fleet management platform, ensuring operational reliability without the need for additional hardware.
This solution consolidates all information in one place and provides key insights for improving electric vehicle charging strategies, simplifying electric vehicle fleet management and allowing fleet managers to rest assured.
Daniel Lopes, Deputy Regional Manager of Protectas Switzerland, has integrated the solution into its fleet of 16 electric vehicles and stated, “Webfleet electric vehicle charger monitoring simplifies our electric vehicle fleet management by streamlining supervision of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, ensuring that our fleet is fully charged and ready to operate at any time
Taco Olthoff, Director of Electric Vehicle Projects at Bridgestone Mobility Solutions, a business unit under Bridgestone EMIA, added, “One of the most important things for managers operating electric vehicles is to ensure that they can continue to operate their business reliably. EV Charger Monitoring supports this. Fleet managers can have an overview of all charging stations in various locations in Webfleet, regardless of the supplier. We want to avoid the risk of using uncharged electric vehicles at the beginning of workdays, which could result in unexpected stops next to fast chargers, increasing time and cost. If there are any unexpected issues, our solution can issue notifications
This solution provides fleet managers with real-time updates on charger availability, occupancy, speed, and vehicle to charger location, while supporting multi site monitoring. In this way, fleet management personnel can be informed of charging issues that may affect fleet operations at any time.
In addition to providing real-time status and notifications, the dedicated dashboard in Webfleet also offers key insights into energy costs, consumption, usage trends, and average charging times, enabling customers to track charging performance and improve their electric vehicle charging strategies. A comprehensive overview can help manage fleet costs, occupancy rates, and charging trends, providing opportunities for optimization and fleet growth.
Any charger brand that follows the Open Charging Protocol (OCPP and OCPI) can integrate into the fleet management user experience by utilizing the EV service platform ecosystem without the need for additional hardware.
